Monobank vs WayForPay for a creator: an honest comparison

Both acquirers cover most Ukrainian creators but work differently. Here is where each one wins.

If you sell access to a private Telegram channel or digital products, your payment acquirer is not a minor detail. Monobank and WayForPay cover most Ukrainian creators, but they work differently: different onboarding, a different fee structure, and a very different experience for recurring charges. Let's compare them honestly and show where each one wins.

Onboarding and who can connect

Monobank offers acquiring through its business cabinet. If you already have a ФОП (sole-proprietor registration) and a monobank account, setup is fast and largely self-service — you do most of it yourself in the interface, with little back-and-forth with a manager. That's convenient for a solo creator who doesn't want a long negotiation.

WayForPay is a standalone payment service, not tied to a specific bank. It has historically been built for online business: web stores, subscriptions, digital goods. Onboarding is a bit more formal — you submit your ФОП/LLC documents and wait for a review of your site or point of sale. In return, WayForPay is used to "non-standard" products and is less likely to ask awkward questions about selling access to content.

Honestly: if you're already inside the monobank ecosystem, starting there is smoother. If you want an acquirer that's independent of your bank, or you plan more complex scenarios, WayForPay is more flexible.

Fee model

The point here isn't to chase a "magic lower percentage" but to look at the structure. Both take a percentage of each transaction; the exact rate depends on your volume, your business type, and your terms, so you should confirm specific numbers with the services themselves — they change.

The general logic:

  • Monobank tends to be simpler on pricing: one clear percentage, minimal hidden lines.
  • WayForPay can offer more flexible terms based on volume and more add-on options (various payment methods, bank-partner installments), but the rate card is more complex.

For a small channel, the percentage difference is rarely decisive. What matters more is how fast payouts hit your account and how transparently you can see the fee in reports.

Recurring payments and tokenization

This is the key question for a subscription model. If you sell monthly access, you want the card charged automatically, not the subscriber having to remember to pay manually each month.

WayForPay has mature support for tokenization and recurring charges — that's its strength, because the service was built around online subscriptions. RybkaOS uses WayForPay tokens for auto-charges when the provider is enabled for it.

Monobank also lets you store a payment instrument and run repeat charges, but historically the auto-charge ecosystem here is narrower, and the details are worth verifying for your case. By default, our auto-charge worker is oriented to Monobank as the base provider, with others (including WayForPay) enabled separately.

If recurring is critical, test both with a real test transaction before you scale.

The subscriber's UX

What your buyer sees affects conversion as much as the fee. The Monobank payment form is familiar to millions of Ukrainians — that lowers friction: people see an interface they recognize and trust. WayForPay shows more payment methods (cards, sometimes Apple/Google Pay, installments), which helps for pricier products where part of your audience wants to pay in parts.

For an impulse purchase of channel access, Monobank's recognizability is a plus. For an expensive course or product the customer deliberates over, WayForPay's variety can help close the sale.

Choose Monobank if…

  • You already have a ФОП and a monobank account and want to start fast.
  • Your product is low-cost channel access bought on impulse.
  • You value a simple tariff and a buyer-familiar interface.

Choose WayForPay if…

  • You need mature recurring charges and tokenization out of the box.
  • You sell pricier products and want installments and more payment methods.
  • You want an acquirer independent of any single bank.

Often the right answer isn't "either/or." Many creators keep both: Monobank for quick one-off payments, WayForPay for subscriptions. RybkaOS lets you connect several providers and never locks you to one — you enter your own credentials in Integrations and switch per scenario. Start with what you already have, and add the second once you see where your friction is.
